GENEALOGY DATA SHEET

Last updated on January 1, 2008
Michael Finn
Born :  1790 (GRO death record)
Died :  March 18, 1868 Grallagh, Co. Roscommon (GRO death record)
Died from Debility - No medical attendant. Informant was Pat Finn of Grallagh
Birth place :  Ireland
At present I have no documented record of Michael's birth place, although Lisduff
or Grallagh are highly suspect
Residence :  From 1819-1830 : townland of Grallagh, civil parish of Tibohine, County Roscommon, Ireland
From 1835 on : Lysgarrow (alias Lisduff), civil parish of Tibohine, Co. Roscommon, Ireland
Death listed in Grallagh, however Michael may have moved in with one of his sons
Father :  Unknown
I believe Thomas to be Michael's first born son, and following irish tradition the first male
child is usually named after the child's paternal grandfather
Mother :  Unknown
Spouse :  Margaret Callaghan
Married :  Unknown, but most likely prior to April 1819
Brothers :  Unknown
Sisters :  Unknown
Children :  Thomas (b. 1819)
Honor (b. 1822)
Edward "Ned" (b. 1824)
Michael (b. 1826)
Henry "Harry" (b. 1827)
Luke (b. 1830)
Patrick Finn (b. 1835)
Margaret (b. 1836)
Additional notes :  Michael is listed in the Tithe Applotment Book for 1825 as an occupier of land in Lysgarrow
(alias Lisduff) for the Diocese of Elphin, Parish of Tibohine. Listed as neighbors to Michael
were : Luke, Pat and Hugh Callaghan, William Lavin and William Lilly.

Michael is listed in the Griffiths Primary Valuation taken in County Roscommon
(November 1858), as the occupier of land in the townland of Lisduff. Also listed with Michael
is Henry Finn.

Michael's son Henry, was married to Mary Lavin somewhere close to 1856 (based on the birth
of Henry's first child).  It is quite possible that the Henry listed in the Griffiths is Michael's
son Henry, and Michael may have given him some land after his marriage.  From the records
that I have, it appears that although Henry was the forth male offspring for Michael, he was
the first to get married and that adds support to the speculation that he was occupying land
given to him by his father.
